A new comedy written by Spike Kunetz
“The Bird Day Party” is a play about a bar that is performed in an actual bar! Welcome to
Birdie’s, the least popular bar in town. When Birdie’s small group of irregular regulars throw her
a birthday party against her wishes, the party seems to be over before it starts—until an
unexpected guest turns the evening into a madcap escapade.
Auditions
December 1 and December 3. 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Callbacks December 5, 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Griswold Auditorium, Allegan.
If you cannot make auditions but are interested in auditioning, arrangements can be made to audition via video call.
Show Dates
Sundays, March 16, 23, 30, 7:30 p.m.
Performing at the bar inside the Tilt restaurant and bar, downtown Allegan.
Rehearsals
The rehearsal schedule will be established once the cast is set, based on the actors’ availability.
Plan on two nights a week, Sunday through Friday evenings, from February 2 through March 14.
Rehearsals will be in Griswold Auditorium.
Tech rehearsals Sunday nights March 2 and 9 in the venue.
Seeking actors for the following roles
BIRDIE 30s-40s. The bartender and owner of the bar. She is mean to her customers and
employees, but inside beats a heart full of hurt. Kissing a male is involved.
ADRIAN 30s-40s. Assistant bartender. Tries hard to please others, she fails to please
herself.
DOTTIE 60s. Talkative, rough around the edges, and flirtatious.
COLE 30-40s. Physically imposing. Confuses being a badass with being a man.
HOKE 70s. A fixture at the bar. He has no sense of good social behavior.
ROB 30s-40s. Adrian’s husband. He is intellectually smart, with no emotional
intelligence.
KENNY Early 20s but still dresses and talks like he did as a teenager.
BEAU 30s. Eccentric, physically on the small side, with a bit of a quirky and formal air
about him.
DELIVERY MAN Middle age. Kissing a female is involved.

All actors will be asked to become members of the Allegan Community Players. Dues are $10
per year.
